Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

:-D
I'm keeping her separate for a little while and she already worked out how to get into where the rocks are and was just chillin with them :-D

Has anyone heard of peckabloc? Just saw an ad for them in this months gardening Australia and wondered what they were and if they were a good idea.
I bought one from greenharvest.com.au and my girls like it. Expensive if you had a lot of chickens, but it does last a good while. I only have four hens and I sawed the block into four. I have just given them the third quarter, after 5 months. So 4 chooks, a block should last around a year.

I keep it covered so it doesn't get wet from rain, and have put it in a tray with sides, as it starts falling apart as they peck at it. I have it next to the shell grit and they often go to one then the other.

They have minerals, vitamins and hard grit. Some calcium (I can't find the wrapper that gives amounts). It wasn't much calcium, but I still left it until they were laying before I gave it to them. They went nuts at it for a few days but now it's only from time to time.

Congrats on your new girl. Try to keep her separate from your other girls for at least a month. You don't want the new one passing on any diseases to your existing flock if she has any you have seen yet.

Just got my new girl today! The man said she's fourteen weeks old but she's tiny and doesn't have all her feathers yet. My Plymouth rocks were fully grown and laying at sixteen weeks.
This little girl is so much fun

she's happy to sit on my lap and hang out and she climbs all over everything in the yard. And so smart

16 weeks! - That sounds promising.
You're fairly close to me- we must swap some eggs in the future.
