Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Who was it looking for giant quails? Was it this thread? Was thinking of whoever today as called into the produce store for feed and they had quails for sale. There were these tiny little bluish grey ones and then these other brown ones that were three times the size. I suspect the owners breed them themselves.

Is there that much difference in them? Or were maybe the little ones something other than quails do you think? They were terribly cute :)

The tiny little ones are king or button quails. Sam (man) and I are both after jumbo quails but it comes down to weight in the Jap quails.

Pearly's baby has grown quite a bit :)

I see, I was surprised at the difference. The bigger ones would "I think" have been the size of my hand.

Hi Guys,
Just joined the site yesterday. I'm from Normanhurst near Hornsby in NSW. My husband and I are totally new to the chook thing. Our coop should be delivered tomorrow. Looking at building it this Easter Weekend. Need to think about building a run and then chicken proofing our big back garden so they can free range. We only want to get maybe three to start us off. We're after chooks that will be good with my baby son and ones that lay well. All advice on runs, free ranging, chook varieties etc very welcome.

Welcome Skippy. Australorps, Barred rocks and isa browns are all fairly laid back hens and would be good for children but in saying that I have many different breeds and they are all great with my 2 year old nephew when he comes to visit.

Thanks Pinky, I had already found it but that any way.
Appps!
I actually inquired about it.LOL.
There is no such breed as a malan, is there?
Especially a Rose comb.lol.

Pinky, I have posted that link as well ( poultry hub ) but no one replied, I found it quite useful as well.
