I want peahens. It's only when you have a male and females that they call to each other.
I reckon if you had 2 peahens and just kept them together they would be fine.
But peachicks do sell for a lot. So when I get my own FARM ( unlikely that will happen ) I am going to have pairs of peacocks.lol.![]()
Ill keep an eye out for some for you, the neighbour here cant convince his that they live at his house, apparently they decide where home is and you have to keep them locked up for a very long time (sort of like pigeons I guess) so they come home at the end of the day and dont wander off looking for a place they like better.
Went to get in the car with the kids at mums one day and there were 8 juvenile peacocks in her front garden. They had wandered from the neighbours, across a really busy road into her yard. The nieghbour lives far enough away across bush that you have to drive to his house from ours. Unfortunatly they all looked like males but if the girls ever come calling Ill hang on to one for you LOL
Oh.lol.
I don't think peahens or peacocks would be a great idea were I am right now and I would have to do an awful lot of convincing.lol.
Satay, how are Guinea to loud...You must have like 20 roosters!!!
oh just for you Luke. My rooster count is.. 2 black aussies, 2 wellies at the moment. 1 bcm, 1barred rock cross, 1 rir 1 cochin and 1 silver spangled hamburg and 2 bantie roos. 11 in total.
Now that does sound like a few but the free range all day and I have only ever lost one chicken to a predator- a white faced black Spanish roo to a different neighbours dog that killed all my muscovies bar 2 about 4 years ago. I think the boys are great for looking after the girls.
I only have a rooster Luke never found any hens to go with him and my booster is more my pet than a breeder he is top of the rung when it comes to the roosters. Booie was my first ever rooster he will be 6 in a few weeks. I had about the same scovies I have now. It was a friend of mines dog and someone came to the house and left the gate open when she wasn't home. Tracy was devastated as much as I was. She padlocks her gate now when she isn't home and we have never had a problem since. Bindi in my avatar picture was a victim of buster getting in. I think I have about 12 female muscovies and 1 drake,
