Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

if only I was in Vic. I would take heaps of them. Have had x battery hens before and they are such a joy to see them out free ranging and being chickens.

The wellies love to come hang out while I have a cuppa lol

If I lived closer, I would also take a couple, poor things.

Good pics satay. I love Welsummer Roosters, they are so very handsome. I have a young fella, and I can't wait for him to grow into those lovely colours. My Welsummer hen on the other hand had her adult colours from about 6 weeks.

Where did you get yours colourful? I would love to get a new line for mine too. They are laying now only pullet eggs but they are not as dark as I hoped. Doesn't really matter as I love them. I find them to be so sweet natured. Are yours the same?

No I am a bit over the runners this year. I swear they have not laid an egg since end of last winter. Not sure what is going on with them. I did notice I have not seen any for sale on farm stock for agers too. My muscovies and my one pair of Campbells laid as usual though.
Yeah, mine are still off the lay as well. I to am over them I have told them if they don't start laying after this Winter they will be sold. They are just taking and not giving....anything!

I would love to home some battery hens if I was closer, especially for a cause like this.
I think that form will out some people off, but hopefully they can just do it to help.

Satay, your Wellies look Amazing!!! They are so nicely feathered.

Great job Pinky. Glad you have got it all sorted out!

I got mine from Murrumbateman, from a lady called Anita. She has a website here; http://www.hotchickspoultry.com/ She doesn't post eggs though.

I think my Wellies are adorable, but they aren't actually that friendly (they are easy enough to handle, but my hen just looks at me when I'm hand feeding them). I have a friend who has some very friendly ones (they come up for pats) and she got them from a breeder in Canberra who advertises in the classifieds. The eggs were like isa brown with speckled chocolate brown sprayed over them, but I got mine near the end of the season so they would be lighter.

I'll pop a photo up of them at some point
