Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Here they are this morning - a few more still pipping.
Well done! They are seriously adorable. I love the Araucana (or Araucana cross) as chicks, they just have the classic chick look too.

Well done! Third generation in!

What are you breeding for, if you don't mind me asking. I can see on old posts that most still have some classic Araucana features. Are you creating Australia's own Easter Eggers?

Nine healthy chicks hatched so far-
Two projects
One to produce a bigger and better araucana by crossing with isa brown derived hens.
one to produce a pure blue egg layer by crossing Araucana with White Leghorns.

Hi fellow Aussies, I am from Western Australia.
We live in the Perth foothills on 3 acres with our lovely flock of Blue and Black Australorps. Is anyone else from WA?
Here are my Australorps. If anyone breeds lorps I would really appreciate your thoughts on them.
Get ready for some chicken photo spam lol.

Ash - look so cute!! Will be interesting to see how they grow!

Cb & cg - welcome!! No experience with quality australorpes ours came from a pet shop years ago but they look beautiful to my novice eye.

And I've just discovered a little problem with faverolles. They are good jumpers!!
Went to lock them up tonight only to find one on the other side of the fence with the big girls. Not sure how long she'd been in there but the others were in bed when I found her. Suspect she was trying to get back up to our back door lol
Going to have to try and find a way to stop them jumping somehow.

CB $ CG, I didn't know there are blue australorps! They are beautiful!

I saw some sebrights today at the northside produce place, they were $45 each. They are smaller than I thought, but sooooo beautiful.... If only I had enough space...

Ash, love your little babies :)

Gorgeous!!!!

I'm not sure show wise, but they sure are pretty. Especially the first one, she almost looks like a Wyandotte with that colouring.

And Red, how did you walk past the Sebright without buying them?!?!

Seriously, I need to know, in case I come across such a dilemma in future. I only want Gold Sebrights, so I find it hard to ignore the offer for the silver Sebrights... I must ignore them...

By the way guys, I'm looking for a (barred) Plymouth Rock Bantam Rooster. I'm willing to freight, so can you guys do me a solid and look out for me? Please?

*My attempt at big eyes*

I keep coming back to the Australorp. They really are very handsome. How big are they? Height/weight wise?
