Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hi there. I keep my ducks and chooks together. They all free range during the day but are in at night. The drakes stay with their girls and the roosters stay with their girls. I've never had any trouble with this set up they all get along fine.

hmm...Well I will give it a go. But if I see anything wrong, Mr duck may have to go. ( I will sell him )

Oh Pinky sorry for your loss of your little one. Luke I have ducks in with chickens with no problems at all. When I had to move the wellies down the back they went into the place the runners used to be so now the runners are in with the turkeys and bantams at night. No problems at all. PInky when you get your eggs from Julie can you post a pick so I can see how dark they are?
Thanks for all the comments about the dog. I sure hope he is right and it has finally gone to someone that will take better care of it.

Well as I said before, I will give it a go.
I haven't even got the darn things yet.lol.

Maybe there are a few evil drakes out there, making it difficult for the many good natured ones. I've heard of Turkey boys killing hens because they try to mount them but I've never come into contact with someone who's had that problem. I would give it a try Luke (Khaki Campbell's are notoriously good natured, while something like Muscovy drakes can be mean) . If you have a problem, it would show itself pretty quickly, I would think. My KC ducks weren't raised with chickens, but they get along fine with them, even my Sebright bantams (who are tiny).

I've found some Peachicks for sale on farmstock, I'm seriously considering them, though I wasn't going to buy any more poultry...

It's hard when they are such lovely animals.

You sound as bad as me colourful. I think ok that's it no more different chickens and then I see marans eggs for sale.. All my good thoughts go out the window lol. I have heard of turkey gobblers trying to mount humans but thankfully my boys are far to gentle for that. My KC male is a quiet gentle fella and tends to just hang with his female. He is in a pen with about 15 Muscovy's they don't seem to bother each other at all.

Yeah, maybe you are right. I am getting them this weekend ( hopefully ) so I have time to watch over them all day long and see what happens. I hope they become good friends with my runner duck. That is the whole point of getting them.....and I love KC's as well.lol.
Yeah I have heard scovies drakes can be mean but I don't think satay's are, so it really just depends on the individual. The man said he hatched and raised them himself ( no broody ) so I think they should be pretty friendly.

Oh Colourful, LOL. You are doing the same thing as me, well probably us all. I decided no! I will not have anymore poultry for a while, next thing I know I'm buying KC ducks.lol
If you like them enough, you will get them

but don't just get them for the sake of getting them, like so that you don't miss out, I'm sure peachicks will pop up again. But if you have the room, money and time to look after them.......THEN GET THEM

I only have one Muscovy drake now and he is very gentle . I had one years ago we used to call satans child cause he would attack everything and everyone except me.
