!!! Great work satay, I just can't wait to get my bator and get some Marans!!
I need a bit of advice.

I was given my 2 Light Sussex hens about 3 months ago. I'm unsure how old they are, but they are definitely mature hens.
My issue is that neither of them have laid an egg at all and are basically free-loading haha.

I'm torn between keeping them and seeing if they lay when the weather warms up, giving them away/selling them or possibly eating them.

I really need to stay away from Poultry sites as I've just put an enquiry in on a Coro Sussex pullet. I can very easily replace the LS, but part of me wants to give them a chance at laying.

TORN!!

I think you should just give them a chance, after all it is the middle of Winter.lol.

Yeah, it's not ideal Satay. I was given the ara eggs and had an forty incubator so just popped them in forgetting that the minorca were in the mail :-\ aren't they ok to stop turning once there are lots of veins?

Beautiful babies :) nice hatch rate too :) mind if I ask what your incubator settings were?

Let my 10 week chicky (only one who hatched from a trial incubation) out with my other breeding lot just for a scratch around the yard and to learn how to be a chicken. My rooster tried the moves on her but she wasn't having a bar of it. He got a swift kick to the head and sent on his way from her! Could not help but laugh!

Thanks Luke and kspot.. 3 more pipping one not doing anything yet. My setting were 37.5c and 45% humidity for day 1 to 18 and 65% since then.

The roosters are not really very fussy are they anything that lays an egg or could possibly one day is fair game lol
