Wheaten Marans are a colour of Marans, Like Light Sussex, Platinum Sussex etc.
Then in the Wheaten you have other colours, so Blue, French, Clay Wheaten.
When you breed Clay's and Blue's, half will be clay, half will be blue...I think!!LOL.

Not sure why I told you all that.lol.

I have French, Clay and Blue hens!
Also Lavender hens!

Luke, French just refers to the fact that they have feathered shanks. As opposed to the English version which has clean shanks. So, they are French Marans, and whatever colour variety. Does that make sense?

So they don't have French Marans in the U.K??
Coppers shanks are featherless aren't they?

As I understand it Luke, they have both varieties now in the UK. But the prevalence is no feathers. However, I only have heard this here and there mostly on this forum, so could be wrong about what is available in the UK.

not sure what you mean by coppers shanks. Do you mean black coppers? If so, the same applies.

Trying to decide how to finish my run. I've got a 4.3m span and thinking its going to cost me a fortune for timber to hold the wire and a bit if poly roofing I wanted to use to keep the rain off a section.

I'm wondering if I could run wire across on tentioners and attach it to that.
