Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I must be the smallest flock owner here, I love reading all about your baby chickens hatching, all the breeds, roosters etc, and here i am with max 6 hens allowed and no roosters :-(
Out of the 6 baby chickens I got in May there are only two girls, and I am only keeping one. A friend took 2 babies at the same time (daycare hatch program) and they are both boys, so I am giving her one of the girls.
One of the boys was crowing at 3.5 months, so had to go. He was tasty :) I have one neighbour that likes to complain to the council about everybody and everything.....
The other three roosters are still quiet.

I've only got 8 at the moment, One of those a rooster and not planning on babies just yet as we've not finished the coop security yet. Are you in town and not rural?

The rooster song is funny, I had it on and my baby (18months) was dancing and clucking like the chickens lol. I heard a huge carry on out there yesterday so sent hubby out to see and apparently it was the rooster getting in on the song while the RIR were laying so I think ours does it too :)

I've only got 9 girls - no roos.
I'm allowed 20 fowl and 1 roo according to the council, but according to my husband, 10 is the limit with no roos lol

Ash - what kind of Sussex do you have? Sussex are one of my favourites. If I could only have one breed, I'd probably have to go with them.

7 girls here. I'm not sure how many we are actually allowed as the council fact sheet tells you everything but that.

My husband wants some light Sussex. He even has the business card of a local breeder on the fridge. Think that's a hint lol

I have 2 Light Sussex, Appps - Probably my least favourite of the Sussex varieties, but good, friendly layers nonetheless.

I adored my Coronation Sussex, she was absolutely beautiful. I'm still sad she's gone.

I am in the suburb of Brisbane on 500m2.
Still - have big chicken coop, 3 quail enclosures and a few fruit trees :)
If I ever win the lotto I will buy a property in Montville, love that place :)
