Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I have had a bad day too.
It started with finding one of the minorca Chicks not Moving at all. I freaked out thinking that it was a disease so I woke up my partner to drive me into the vet. As we were getting the chick, the rooster attacked my partner twice and he kicked him :'( they're both OK but not fun and neither was the ensuing argument during which the lavender Araucana decided to FLY out of the yard, across a couple house blocks and a major street into someone else's yard. Got her back but I have to find her a new home now... so I took the nearly dead Chick and the one with the hurt leg to the vet who said it's not a disease, just trauma. Apparently some chicks got out yesterday while I was away and got picked on by my bossy hen. So they're both recovering but there's not much hope for the leg :-\

Why do you have to rehome the Lav Araucana? Just because she escaped?

I'm not exactly sure but I've only had her a little while and it's far preferable to having to re home my beloved rooster so I think I just have to count my blessings there and not push it.

Little bug, the Minorca, died :( gotta get another tree :(

Operation build new coop is in full swing, Saw our first goanna for the season yesterday so I've been getting as much done as I can in between raising four children under 6 and running the household while hubby cuts cane. So far I have constructed 4 panels, One of which has the main door (human size) to the run. Still have roughly 8 or so panels to go

Getting quite a few eggs a day now - 5 on Friday and Saturday, 7 yesterday and another 5 today. I'm not sure if they're fertile or not but I've been taking them away anyway. I'm assuming they're not fertile as none of the chickens are nesting on them
