Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I don't see too many white egg layers on my farm. Apart from my croads but they have a Pinky Purpley tinge, not pure white like those.

Good luck with your hatch Luke. Looks like my bator is about to be filled with quail eggs again, Everywhere I went yesterday people wanted quails. I finally started my worm farm again. Used to have one in the city when we were out yesterday went past a worm farm that has composting worms for sale. He sells all over Australia we managed to get ours a little cheaper as we are locals so that was my good score for the day. He also wants to buy quails off me.

Yay Pinky! Thats awesome, they are beautiful birds, I wouldn't mind a trio one day :)
Nice marans eggs Luke and the leg horn eggs are so white!
If you a still looking for Marans later in the year bens hens I may have some available, where abouts in Aus are you?
And I didn't see it appps but I love silver and gold laced Wyandottes. I want to add a few girls to my layer pen or maybe some seabrights :)

Another broody chookie. Are black bantum leghorns more prone to being clucky? I have three and I swear they go broody at least once every 3 weeks. I felt awful moving her to a broody breaker but we're not finished building the baby safe pen so can't leave her there with the eggs. It looked so sweet when the eggs rolled from under her wing and she pushed them back under with her beak. Oh bad mama feeling here :(

I think all bantams are lovers of being broody. My pekins are broody all the time and feisty little girls when they are too.

Hi, I have five hens and a rooster. I bought them as day olds last year in November. I have taught them to come when I say "here chook chook chook"
My rooster is way too protective and attacks in his hens call out. They are pretty friendly (apart from Ken the rooster), one time I was sitting down fixing something and a hen came aling and nested on my lap. She didn't lay thankfully. I love them all. I have:
3 Light Sussex, Ken, Sheila and Mayvis
1 Australorp, Miss Prissy
1 Ancona, Atilla the Hen but we call her Tilli
1 Silkie cross, Lottie.

Hi chook, just keep an eye your guy " Ken " an aggressive rooster can make your life very difficult . I have a new light sussex roo, " king Henry. ". He caused all sorts of problems when he first arrived, but thankfully he has settled in nicely. My favorite roo is " king George " . He's my coronation sussex, he's so good to his girls and very respectful towards me. I start my babies with treats and call " here chicky chicky " now they all come runnin when they see me. Visitors are always amazed that I can pick my chickens up. Who would have believed that they could be so adorable ?
