Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Sorry for your loss Chook.

O.K, the total count with me is 6/8 chicks hatched.  2/3 WLH's, 2/2 Ara X WLH's, 2/3 Marans X WLH's.  Can't wait to see how they turn out:D !!!
0/10 quails:/ , can't figure them out. Had 2/10 half formed fetus 1 was almost fully formed but dead and the rest infertile, so all over the place really.

Sometimes dead in the shell quail is from too little or too much humidity Luke. Great hatch on the chickens though,

It's raining here

I love that last photo Fancychooklady. That is an awesome picture... calender-worthy IMO

Well you lot, I have been away from the computer while hubby was home and I have now made a mental note to ALWAYS check on this thread when he's home.
I have come back to quite a many pages to catch up on

Us Aussies sure can chat!! HAHA!

My hubby brought back 3 dozen 'fertile' eggs and a Barnevelder rooster for my lonely Barnie pullet last stint.
So this past week has been exciting with us setting our first ever manually incubating clutch of eggs. Our broody hen has always done the work for us, but the day olds we got for the kids a while back has sparked an addictive ambition in me.

Our new cockeral is just the sweetest little fellow. He's been following me around for days. He looks like he'll be a big boy (that is, if judging poultry feet is like judging a pup's paws) and I can't wait until our pullet and he are producing babies!!

Oooh, TheChookPatch, sorry to hear of your loss

It gets me thinking... I really need to get out and fix up our old generator, because I am scared of losses due to power outages. I'm hoping for a good few weeks, but summer brown-outs are very common for us unfortunately.
How does everyone deal with power losses when incubating?

Thanks free range. You have no idea how hard it was for me to choose , just 2 x pics for the calendar comp. Ask your hubby where he got the Barney roo. The young couple that my husband and daughter are staying with outside Perth, are also looking for a nice roo for their Barney hens.
