Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Ye my feed store has grit. But it's the stuff that helps grind up the chickens food.
I'm after the soluble grit, the one that helps with calcium levels.

It's calcium carbonate and it's $2-50 a kilo bag at our local ag shop. Don't know if you have animal tucker box, pet barn ??? I think you can get it at Horseland , but of course it will be dearer. I put it in a separate bowl, under cover for " free take ".

If you can't find any, ask your local restaurant to keep the oyster shells for you. But them in the pens and smack them with a sledge hammer. Good way to work your agro out and it's free. Just make sure you do it while the chooks are locked up or low egg production will be the last of your worries

mine is the opposite lol they looked at me weird for that kind and only have the oyster shell stuff

The other place you could look is just at a pet store. Large cage birds are going to need ground oyster shell too so they should sell it in a decent size bag. Just ask for a large bag of shell grit.

I must say I'm a bit upset that you old members just seem to chat to each other, excluding a few, and not helping us newbies out. I'm new to this and am genuinely asking for advice yet seem to get looked over.

Sorry Mcgrigg. Sometimes we don't all see posts. Just remind us if you have not got an answer and I am sure one of us can help most of the time.
