Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Don't get caught doing this as its illegal in NSW and I am not sure in other states!

Sam I was born and bred in Wollongong , if I remember correctly it's illegal to look sideways

at a cunji. We used to step on them to make them spurt water ,at Port Kembla beach. Here in tassie you can stand in Huon and get a free feed of rock oysters.
Remember that shell grit is to aid with digestion because chooks don't have teeth. If it's calcium they are lacking oyster shell or calcium carbonate is is what you need. Although if it's reduced quantity in eggs it's more likely to be inadequate protein, not calcium.

Hi guys, hope you're all well and full of the joys of spring.

Just wondering if anyone has any practical advice on getting rid of crows. We've got two here that have been getting more and more daring. They've been scaring the girls for the last couple if weeks and today they had the audacity to go into the coop, pull out the eggs and eat them in the yard.

Really don't want to keep the girls cooped up (no pun intended) all day but also don't want to keep losing eggs to the crows. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.

A shotgun is very effective, but you can use those shiny plastic bladders out of wine casks- blow them up and hang them near the chookhouse doorway. Or those little stick on mirrors seem to work too.

We have a big crow / raven problem. They have been harassing one of my coronation hens that is on eggs. I put 6 eggs on a shelf because I was too busy to take them in. When I went back an hour later they were gone! They pester the bee geeeeez out of the sea eagle.

Suddenly why my BIL had his golf ball stolen on the fourth hole by a crow makes sense, it must have thought it was an egg.

Wow, tricky problem if they are going right in the coop only thing I can think of is one of those nesting boxes where the eggs roll down into a collection area. Out of sight out of mind and hopefully they will get over stalking it.

Oh no she's not in the coop. She decided to sit in the back of the pony shelter. Our pens are surrounded by massive grey gums . The buggers were sitting up there watching me just now, while I was out feeding everyone. I might just move her .

Lol I'm from bendalong. We ate oyster off the rocks too. And cunji we used as lobster bait. But I was referring to taking grit from beaches.

Hmm my dog hates birds in His yard so I have no problems but the above suggestions are good ones. Live animal trap and relocation or humain death are an alternative ours was a indian miner bird issue so we trapped and had someone take care of the rest from the council.
