Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hi all,

I have noticed my Langshan Bantams have round worms. I discover a worm in one of the droppings. I went to the local produce shop today and purchased some Piperazine solution to use however am a bit confused as the directions are for 'Dosage per 100 birds'. I have only 3 little hens. What's the best way to do this?

Sorry if this has been asked before?

How is the bird dosed? Is it in the water? In that case just calculate pro rata for your waterer size. If you do find it too hard to work out, you can always take it back to your produce store and they should be able to help.

The dosage is in the water. 90ml per 11 litres for 100 birds.

So I guess I just mix say 2.7ml Piperazine into 330mls of water and wait till the drink it all?

Then again, they are bantams, not full sized birds (which I assume the product is made for)

Yes. But I have 3 birds, not 9. If the 3 of them were allowed to drink the litre that would be 3x the dosage. Wouldn't it?

Make sure they have no other water source, put the litre of medicated water in with them and leave them to it. It pretty hit and miss, because some birds drink more than others and it only treats roundworm.
