Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

GREAT PICTURES Fancy.
I am so envious of your camera and Sussex!!!

Thanks Luke, but as I've said, my camera is idiot proof.
I just went out to candle the coronation eggs under hen and 2 have pipped, while one has almost been squashed. It's peeping but I'm not sure that it will survive. So 10-30 Sunday night , I've started up the incubator in order to try and save it. I must be mad!

Good news is they are all fertile , bad news is they are at different stages.

Incubator chicks are always a lot bigger, and usually feather faster, than broody chicks. It is like feedlotting them. Ultimately, they should be the same size.

Cute chicks, Pinky.

Fancy, did you say SUN??? In Tassie???? ;)

Did you get onto that WA person, Satay? Or do you have enough poultry? :lau

Lol Never enough poultry. I have got on to her but not got any eggs yet as i have been struck down with a horrid flu for the last few days.

Hi, I am a new (ish...) addition to this site and am also an Aussie. I have a flock of 9 Silkie crosses, 2 White Leghorns, 1 Isa and 1 Jersey Giant,  and am hoping to add a few Araucana's in soon. I got a phone number of an Araucana breeder but can't get a hold of her, she never answers.

I have read around this site and on other poultry sites and I have seen that the Aussie Araucana's are slight different to the American ones and have a tail. Is that true..? I don't particularly like them without their tails (no offence to those who love them..) and was wondering if they ARE different. Thanks for reading :)

Hi and welcome. I think everyone has explained the difference between the two types of araucanas they should be easy to find as many of us have them. As far as I am aware there are no jersey giants in Australia so you probably have a black australorp or a black orpington. Lovely birds non the less. I love my black aussies.
