I spent the day yesterday cleaning pens and we put all the blue babies in their new pen. Went over this morning to have a cuppa with them and they were too busy exploring , to pay me any attention. My how quickly they grow up.
Not much else to do today, gonna tackle that ironing basket.

Satay, I hope we both get these storms they're talking about. Cos, it may not be quite as hot, but the humidity is awful.

You are having a bad run, sorry about Matty. :hugs Shame you didn't get more Wellie chicks in your hatch. You DO have plenty more chicks to choose from however.

My incubation seems to be whizzing along. Day 15 already.

Lucas, so you ended up with 3 chicks?

Thanks rexy. Isnt' the humidity horrid today. It's currently 38c and 87% humidity... Gunna melt it think lol.

Hi everyone,
Have not managed to read all posts yet so I hope everyone is ok & had a safe & happy New Year. I have FINALLY managed to get two black frizzles! I have been looking around Cairns for 2 years. My fantastic vet practice put my onto a lovely lady who had 3 black chicks & was willing to let me have two. I can only take hens as have my two roosters firmly in place. These guys are only 5 weeks old so could both be roosters but Sue is happy to have them back if that is the case. Fingers crossed for at least one hen.

They look like two baby crows gone wrong. I have named them FRIC & FRAC. I have feeling one is definately a rooster but heres hoping. I really want to breed one with Ollie (flat frizzle) but as he is now in his 14th year, I think that may be wishful thinking. He is certainly still doing the deed with his current hens. Oh well, good to think positevely. I have his son on standby in case. Satay, sorry about your rooster loss, do you have any of his sons that are like him?

Hi qldchook. Very cute. You are right, they look like crows that had a mixup with a power pole. :lau

Fancy, I thought you said you were sending some rain up here. We are waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are right, they do grow up quick. I lost patience with some young cockerels, 20 weeks old, and they have gone to be processed this morning. They just get too nasty.

I just went out and filled the feeders, between showers. I have 3 light sussex boys ready to go. They are so friendly , it's a shame but I can't keep them all.

There is a tiny dot on the radar heading our way from crows nest. Fingers crossed it doesn't go around again. Current temp 41.5c and 70% humidity. JUst went to check on big man and told him if it doesn't rain soon he is getting another bath lol. Maybe he will bring the rain lol.

Last night I had 2 pipping but then woke up this morning to 3 hatched chicks and 1 pipping ( beak is out ). 1 is my frizzle bantam over WLH and the other 3 are WLH's and so is the piping one.
