Totally random question... But can chickens sleep with a light or do they need a light at night? Mine have had a little solar light in their coop since they were born and I didn't want to freek them out by removing it... I notice they use it a lot at night to get a drink...

That might be the problem of your hens not roosting.

I would try turning it off every night for a week and see what happens.

Chickens usually go into a comatosed state just before sunset. I would remove the light as it may be disrupting their sleep. Mine certainly don't eat or drink in the dark.
Perhaps if you were to put them on the perch and remove the light they will ' stay put '.
If your still concerned about them, get one of those cheap surveillance cameras on ebay and set it up in your coop. That way you will get a better understanding of what the little buggers get up to.
