Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I'm new here and to chickens really! I got my first chickens about 8 months ago. Started with 4 one year old Isa's from the local egg farm. Fox got one and injured another a couple of months later. Injured one survived though! Has a limp from her injury, but she's a good little chicken. I called her Kylie because she should be so lucky LOL!

I got 3 year old Hylines a couple of months ago and they settled in well after a couple of weeks of fighting. Hoping to get some young Speckled Sussex in a week as I've heard good things about them, and maybe some Lace Barnvelders if/when the breeder gets some chicks.

Here's some of my girls enjoying their afternoon run in the garden.

Lol I would post that pick on the ' what's this chicken thinking ' thread. Did they see a lizard go under thar brick?
The sussex breed are great. Inquisitive , friendly and easy on the eye. I have considered getting some speckle, mmmmm.

Ben i cant breath! That hen trying to crow is the cutest/funniest thing I've seen in a while! Good looking RIR too!

How's everyone been?! Anyone had any new hatches? I'm STIIIILL waiting on my silkie and australorp eggs :jumpy

Ooooo Luke! Someone asked if i could hatch some leghorns and RIRs for them! So after this lot of eggs i'll be contacting you if you have any leghorn eggs at that time ill buy some off you if you want to sell any :highfive:

Hey Sydney, I had some hatch over the weekend and had to help a little wylkie out today after it got shrink wrapped. It's in the brooder with the rabbit, once it gets dark I'll pop it back under momma, by then it should have ' fluffed up '.

LOL, no, that's at the base of the steps and I had watered the lawn so they were just pecking away. I often do wonder what they think though. I often have a 6 chook escort to collect the mail!

Hey LordStark how goes your flock

They're pretty good thanks, I moved them into the chook coop this morning. They've got their own cage to keep them from the old girls. The chicks seem quite happy in their new home, they've certainly got a lot more room now. The olds on the other hand seem a bit distressed by the new arrivals. They made alot of noise while I was sorting out the chicks and rushed the gate, which I hadn't latched behind me.

I hadn't intended on introducing the chicks to the chooks quite so soon. But given that there's a cat around and my kelpie has a taste for chicken, I figured a cage within the coop would be the safest place for them. Plus I've seen a quite a few foxes around, you can hear them most nights too.

She mass hatches eggs and from what I hear her quality is not good. Never bought form her myself though
Hmm, I bought a dozen mixed eggs from her and all their colours turned out different to what she told me they would be. And my favourite Wyandotte isn't a recognizable colour. I'm quite annoyed actually..
