Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Well, at least I'm not alone in having no eggs. I'm still waiting for the first one. :D However, two of my pullets may have squatted for me today when I put them down after chancing letting them free range for the first time today. These pics were taken with my phone so they are not great. The white pullet on the right only had a red stripe on her head and now has a unicorn like comb pointing backwards. What is this & why do we not have one for our coop?
Omg you have green grass and your live in brissy...? or qld anyways... wow. I have a nice mix off brown dust everywhere right now. Your girls look lovely. :love I bet they are looking like wow what a cool place to lay. I found miracle the other day bunkered down under my bromeliads laying... Cheeky girl.

Hi Luke ... thanks for  your post.   Seems alien to have to buy eggs ??    So will wait until Spring, but meantime - once Molly RIR has a bit more feathering on herself, I will be worming them with tablets from an Avian vet not far from here.    They all hate the worming mixture that goes into water.   Should also grate up some garlic I guess, to keep them going between bouts of tablets.

Seems everyone is 'eggless' these days.    It's turned very cold down here ( Victoria ) now, and winter has set in with a vengeance.   Doesn't seem to bother the chooks as much as it does me.!!

Cheers ...... AB

Watching the news I feel sorry for all you guys down south and your horrid winter weather at the moment. I'm freezing my butt off this morning. It was 1.5c at 6 am... Gosh I wish I could afford to move to Darwin for winter lol.. As I tell Sam regually.... I've told you I don't do winter right ? Her response is just a few dozen times :lau

It rained so hard he last night our paddocks all have little creeks running through them. I'm glad we bought the goats up from down the back, at least I won't lay awake at night worrying about them drowning.

^^ Satay - do lots of green weeds make you as happy because that's what we mostly have. Lol
Given all the attention the chickens get when they are out, they may well delay laying until after the school holidays so no hunt the egg for me. On the other hand my son's first holiday distraction has been to make a temporary indoor nest box so we will see how that goes down.
