I peeked under Bubbles this morning - at least 3 babies were out with another on the way

2 were dark; they may be the Faverolles and 1 was a bantam Rock.. Is it home time yet??

Those are lovely eggs. I've got 7 Wheaten Maran eggs under my Ara at the moment so I hope I get a gorgeous girl to keep out of that hatch. The eggs are such a nice deep colour.

Thank you, they look like real chocolate eggs, I'll have to be careful when the grand kids come down for Easter that they don't try to take a bite of one, (that's if I can find a supplier close to me).

I know of someone on the tweed that sells eggs not sure if you are anywhere near there.

I have to buy 4 wk old chicks as I don't have the facilities for anything younger. I am quite close to the Tweed but I need someone to deliver as I don't feel confident driving distances any more. I got my barnevelders from a lady at the Gold Coast and she delivered them to Ballina which is 10 mins from me, but I'm not sure if she has marans. I don't want them until my 10 wk old chicks are old enough to join the big flock, so I'm thinking next school holidays. I'm going to get some wyandottes as well.

Looks like we might be having another broody on our hands, Viiru was sitting on Virpi's and Töyhtis' eggs this morning. There's something wrong with my chickens though. It's been 0C in the coop and they think it's a good time to start hatching out chicks...

Little hatchies! Unfortunately I lost 2 bantam Rocks mid hatch. They must have just tried too hard to get out of the shells, became exhausted and died

Not very nice seeing completely formed chicks ready to enter the world and not make it.
Times like these I wish I worked from home so I could have helped them.

I also found another bantam Rock that had rolled away from the nest and it's little head was stuck inside the egg. Poor thing was cold to the touch and when I got it out, I found a nasty cut on it's face right near it's eye (thank goodness it's eye isn't compromised though). It was near on dark so I just popped it back under Bubbles and will clean it up a bit in the morning.

the little thing makes it through the night. I really hope so.
If anyone has any advice they could give me regarding treatment for this little one, I'd be very grateful.

So all up I have 3 Favs - all looking Cuckoo.
2 Aras - one completely black, the other a darker colour I'm not sure what it is
2 bantam Pencilled Rocks.

@K Spot clean the wound properly, and put some vetramil or vetericyn on it.

I'm sorry about the two chicks that didn't make it K Spot.

Personally, I'd leave the chick under mum to warm up & get over the shock & put stuff on it in the morning.

Hope she looks chipper in the morning even if she has a scratch.
