This little one hatched yesterday, unfortunately mum left the other eggs so he/she is a loner.

Ah no, human error I fear. Our daughter flies out tomorrow for WA and I have been so busy , washing and ironing , packing and fretting , that I was a bit slack on checking the Broodiies. By the time I realized she had hatched any, one was left in the cold to hatch and the eggs were stone cold. This little guy had wondered away and momma had followed to keep him warm. I found 3 SILKIE hens sitting on 30 eggs today so I don't think there will be a shortage of silkies. The colour is odd, being that both parents are white. I will just have to wait and see.

Thank you , she is off having dinner with her friends tonight but we have had a family BBQ and we will all be seeing her off at the airport tomorrow. Big move , 4000 km , guess I'm going to have to get over my fear of flying. Made even harder by today's footage of plane crash on the news. Have a good day.

So sorry to hear about your SS but by far the kindest thing to do, but never easy I know.

Sorry for not posting much lately, I've been reading but lots going on so having had oodles of time.

There's at least one more getting redder in my little flock (can I call it a flock or should it be a flockette???) and the first girl is getting a bit noisier but also a bit flighty at the moment. I spend as much time with them as I can which some days isn't a huge amount. I have treats for them at least once per day but food is available to them 24/7.

Will try to get photo's again soon.

Such a cutie fancy! Makes me clucky all over again!

I remember leaving my home state and moving away from my mum. Was scary but exciting! 9 years on we still live in separate states. Thank god for facebook and phones!
