Quarantine is a personal choice but I have read story after story about entire flocks being wiped out with coryza or CRD. The only birds that I have ever had with problems came from a well known registered breeder. As a result of my strict quarantine rules , they were never introduced to the flock.
If a bird even leaves my property it has to do the full 6 weeks in quarantine on its return. Better to be safe than sorry.![]()
Wow urs are strict! Lol. Yeah i did contemplate not worrying about quarantine with my new lot as i got them from the same breeder and i went in and seen all her chooks etc. But i guess i decided to do it because anybodys chooks can become ill with or without fault from the owner. Just cos my first lot were fine doesnt mean this lot wouldnt be. I knew she wouldnt sell me a chook she knew was sick but she may have not known it was sick yet. So I did it for about 2 weeks or so i think but thats only cos i was so busy with the wedding i couldnt spend the time out there with them when introduced. Otherwise i prob wouldnt have made it passed 1 week lol. But yeah i realise its a personal choice and one that differs a lot, it was more shock that i thought sj chucked them straight in without even a meeting and they got along! Lol. SO jealous. Still i will always do quarantine i think, as u said, better to be safe than sorry!
