Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

My rooster is broody....is this normal? He spends all day trying to show his girls how comfy each nest is that he has selected for them, toc-ing and calling, and he has been spotted sitting on eggs and toc-ing at them!

The girls have zero interest in any of the nests, except the one box that all 4 lay in, and even less interest in brooding the eggs or staying in the nesting box any longer than necessary. He tries to block them in the box as if to encourage them to brood.

My silkie roo is like that. I think that he is just in touch with his ' feminine side '. On the bright side he is a very good daddy too. :)

He is a "Sussex cross something big and black".
I know when I introduced the Silkie chicks and the hens got nasty he shuffled them in behind him and protected them...he pined for nearly 2 weeks when they died.

Yay babies!!

Happy birthday again, @satay
