Howdy Pennae, welcome, nice to see you found us ;)

Aaaaw adorable little bubbers!

Sidhe13 sounds like your little one is a fighter; I hope he hangs in there :fl

Ah, the joys of integration!

Crystal and KiKi turn 9 weeks old on Monday and Cilla is still being a wonderful mumma, it doesn’t look like there is going to be any cord cutting in the near future.

The broody coop and run back onto the main coop and run and when I have no little ones, they all open up into one big coop and run.

For the last couple of weeks, when the big gals are out free ranging, I have been opening it up into one so that Cilla can give the bubs a grand tour without any hassles from the aunties.  They have been exploring and learning where the hiding spots are for when full on integration happens.

During free range, I have been putting up a temporary fence in the garden but still attached to their coop, so that while mum and bubs are technically coming out of the coop/run and in the garden, socialisation is still through wire and they are learning to run back to their coop if spooked.

Today, the little ones are going to get a couple of hours complete free range in the garden while the big gals are still in the run.  This will give them a chance to get used to the big wide world without containment and also learn where the hidey holes are and when to run back into the coop.

The plan is to do this for a couple of weekends and then hopefully, when they are comfortable in the garden, everyone can come out at the same time.

Everyone has plenty of room at the moment in their separate areas so integration does not need to be done in a hurry.

My only problem is that I do not have ear plugs which I will need when the aunties are bitterly complaining “how come they are free ranging and we are not” :lau

It is going to be fun watching Cilla show her bubs all her favourite spots in the garden .. "and this is where you can have a nice dust bath" ... "over here is a good spot for grubs" .. "if you stand over there on the deck and look cute, you get meal worms" ... "over there is the fish pond, best not to try and fly over it cos us little bantams fly like rocks and sink like them also" etc

Love the story of your girls :)

Thought I'd share from fb. Beautiful peacocks

So wish hubby would allow me a few peacocks :he

So the new black hen we weren't sure whether it was actually araucana x laid an egg this morning. Not qyite as green as my black hen but it is green! Hooray! Australorp pepper has laid her 3rd egg and knocked it straight off (my outdoor table as its been wet) dog enjoyed that one. Bantams haven't given me any yet today. I have 6 laying hens and they are all doing well considering this is the off season. Im impressed. They must be happy girls. It is also warmer here (FNQ) at the moment than most of The rest of OZ. Love that of a flock of 16 i now have 5 birds that arent actually black lol.

He is standing! Kind of....he is back to waddling on his hocks... Still unsteady but not flailing hopelessly like yesterday. Improvement is good because tomorrow would have been D-day! His a appetite hasn't failed yet and he sipped some water today which is another improvement! Fingers still crossed!

Tonight's mix is vegemite, honey, water, Amprollium and e&b mash.

Don't give Vegemite whilst you are treating with amprolium . The amprolium is a thiamine inhibitor, the way it works is it starves the Protozoa of thiamine . If you give Vegemite ( rich in thiamine ) will negate the amprolium. Waste of time and money.

Satay and Deej211 I have one araucana - separate from the others, as I like to keep her alive !! ( one of my big chooks loathes her ) ..... She is very pretty, with goodly splashes of light tan / beige through her feathers in regular patterning. The person who gifted her to me, thought she might be a cross bred - he has a lavender, a black and a white himself, got them all from a breeder. She has dark coloured legs - and lays beautiful eggs ( when laying ) ranging in colour from olive green to almost a bright blue - at least it is a blue, with a few greenish blue eggs here and there. Lining them all up together, there are different hues .... but she has never laid a brown or pinkish egg. The insides of all her eggs are sky blue. Here she is - little Mindy : This was taken about a year back. She is more light tan now than white. As a little pullet she was all white. Can't wait to see what colour she will be when she completes her current moult. Cheers ......
pretty girl.

@Fancychooklady

Ohhh...ok...so just the Amprollium for now since he was inproving before we started the vegemite. Not long after I posted he stood up all the way and took a few steps and managed a few pecks of food while standing all by himself! This is astounding progress! He does still stumble and fall and then he gets panicky and loses control of his legs again. I grab him and hold him and talk to him to calm him down, then we try again.
Compared to yesterday and this morning when he was just flailing on his back and couldn't even right himself or lay still...
Thanks so much for all the advice and well wishes and support from you all xxx

If he has cocci then it's best to treat him for that first. But if the ataxia worsens with the amprolium , then I would cease the meds and start the thiamine replacement . Hope he comes good. :)
