Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Thanks guys! Yea a lady down the road picked him up. He rolled past her house in a wind gust. She kept him in a box on the lawn to see if his mama would come but she didn't. We don't have any water sources nearby so can't make a guess as to his home...
I knocked together a smaller brooder for him and he has a buddy and better food arriving on Friday. He is eating soaked and mashed pellets mixed with handrearing mix. He loves to splash in a bowl of water and gets to eat bits of green. We he is not following me he loves to snuggle his lion soft toy which is full of wheat so can be heated.

I've reared ducklings with chicks in the past . Ducks do tend to have a higher requirement of niacin than chooks, so if you aren't inclined to add multi Vits to their water, then it's a good idea to keep Brewers yeast in your first aid box.

Yea I am going to get some tomorrow. I have noticed today that he is a bit wobbly on his legs and they are a funny. He will have brewer's yeast added to his foods.
I am still on the look out for a really good multivitamin for poultry...

Hey folks, just a quick one ... I thought I had done my research but obviously not and while I still have hope that the Crow Away CD works and I have now ordered one from the States; just wanted to let you know to disregard my earlier post about Crow Away; I had my suspicions that it could be dodgy and turns out it was :(

Long story short, I will let you know how the one from the States goes (they are sending me an MP3 so I do not have to wait 6 weeks or so for it to arrive) ... actually, I might go back and edit that post so no-one following up on it orders the wrong one when I start spouting about how good the new CD is

OK, so it is early days (well, actually hours) but I received my Crow Be Gone mp3 overnight and have been playing it (repeat) on my antiquated laptop, strategically perched on top of the fridge in the back shed.

It may just be coincidence BUT it has been very quiet this morning; the Crows have been conspicuous in their absence. I have heard a couple, way off in the distance, but nothing like the onslaught we have endured for the past month or so.

One did land on the front lawn, hung around for a little while, looked a little upset and left! Also, it does not seem to be upsetting the girls at all :)

The big test will be this afternoon when they start to hang around in the back trees, demanding the neighbour feeds them.

Will keep you updated but so far, so good

Ah, the tranquility, I can actually hear myself think and can concentrate on work.

Hey Sidhe13, yep, it will be interesting and I will keep you all updated.

The instructions indicate it is best to play it all day for the first couple of days, especially morning and night when they tend to be most active and noisy. Apparently, because of the low volume and the fact that the sounds are spaced at varying intervals, the Crows have a problem knowing exactly where the sound is coming from and the varying quiet periods are reported to make them nervous.

On all reports, it makes them rethink hanging around and they should leave entirely. Testimonials also report that any time there has been a revisit, they just play the CD for a couple of days and they move away again.

While I was a little skeptical it would work, I was also very hopeful because I was running out of options. So far, I am very impressed ... today has been absolutely wonderful ... so peaceful!
