Hi so got some good news and some bad again one of the goslings died don't no how but it was fine the day before then went to check on them that night and he was dead in the nest box so yeah down no how couldn't feel any breaks so could've just been a freak accident. Anyway no more bad news the little gosling that had that swollen foot is fine now he is strong and walking so all good. Another thing is that one of my friends want a pair of geese for next year so I am giving the radar and bear so then I will have clare flapper and Mr Hiss so yeah will be able to keep some of the goslings from this years hatch yayaayyay so happy but sad at the same time can watch them grow all over again so yeah but also sad that I have to get rid of radar because he is far to aggressive towards my chickens and Hiss doesn't care as long as they don't get near the goslings he is in a good mood. So will keep updated but here are some pics of the older gosling with the younger goslings in the backyard with the geese. But you can tell the difference between a 2 week old gosling and 3 day old

So on day 9 swell for my little silver lace wyandotte hen and have candled all of the eggs yay candled for the first time and for what I can see all are alive all were moving inside of the eggs and lot of veins so excited she is going to be such a good mum. But I am hoping for another broody to hurry up because I have 8 orpington eggs and 4 plymouth eggs that I need to hatch so fingers cross but maggie my older sussex silkie mix is showing signs as she was in the nest box all day yesterday and same for the day before so fingers crossed I guess

Good morning friends

devinandfeather aaaaw, I am sorry to hear about your little gosling; maybe he got squashed/suffocated but good news that the little one with the sore leg has improved. Love the pics .. they are soooo cute!

ChristieB I would be more relaxed about my kids also … probably because they can either tell or signal to someone that something is wrong; chickens, not so much! I can’t remember the last time both hubby and I went away at the same time, definitely not in the over two years we have had chickens. I know that it will probably have to happen one day and I am not looking forward to it; I have no idea who would look after the girls and I would worry the whole time I was away!

locknest4 sorry, I have no experience with automatic coop doors. Kleonaptra sorry, no experience with incubators either.

appps I am sorry to read of your incubator dramas and so hope you have some bubs soon; very exciting!

Anniebee your girls are gorgeous!

Sam I am pleased to hear that Gretel is on the improve.

Fancy I can see why that picture made the calendar, it is excellent!

sjturner79 I am so sorry to read of your loss

On the frozen vegies in the water subject, I use the el cheapo mixed veg [the little square ones] .. my gals do not eat peas!! They do not like grapes either .. I know

I wonder sometimes if they are actually chickens!

They love watermelon on a hot day … well, any day actually.

On the subject of corn, my gals will not eat the corn in their organic coarse grain mix but love the fresh stuff. Pellets? “You know what you can do with your pellets! We are NOT eating them!”

I am enjoying hearing about all the broodys, hatches and bubs! Especially since I am having a break from all three

A relative of mine also has just 3 chickens --- 2 x Araucana, and 1 rather large, all black Silkie. All hens, around 3 years of age.

They are laying now of course, and he sent me a photograph by email - titling it " 6 and 1/3 eggs ".

I have no idea what colour egg the black silkie lays - these all look like Araucana eggs to me .... but I might be wrong. He doesn't know who laid what.

Here they are --- just thought you all might be interested.

Cute photo :) We are always fascinated when the girls lay one of those itsy bitsy eggs.

Has anyone else been getting Chinese language in home page? I have reported mine to support and it seems to have cleared now.

No locknest4 .... I for one, haven't ... but nothing surprises me these days. Get heaps of stuff on Facebook in various languages - all of which are offered to be translated on the page.

Best to translate things by copying and pasting to Google Translate ( if you want to know, that is ).

Guess the moderators here jumped on it .. and fixed the problem. Not uncommon on many sites btw.

Cheers ----
