Fancy those pictures of the girls with the chooks and Castiel are beautiful! Your daughter is very talented. Got a good chuckle from the ‘Tasmania Yesterday; Tasmania Today’

Babesfarm good to meet you and welcome to the thread. Unfortunately I am not able to help you with the duck question, I have no experience with ducks.

Tee hee potato chip I wonder if those who know me well cringed when you mentioned Crows and thought ‘have Teila’s soap box on the ready’! lol

I have been having a battle with the Crows for a couple of years now, even have a thread about it!

Anyways, my advice, do not trust them!

Your chookies sound like they are big enough for the Crows to not be a threat. I have seen one pin down a juvenile Turtle Dove and attempt to eat him alive. They also hassled a Turtle Dove out of her nest which they destroyed, along with the eggs which they ate.

I hate them!

On the subject of Crows … while they have been around in the trees, they have not ventured down onto the lawn to steal food and/or eggs etc since Dusty’s second bashing of the determined one a couple of days ago … good girl Dusty!

Tee hee Anniebee I enjoyed your telling of the scratch mix parties. Any parties here are monitored by Crystal; while she does not take on the Crows, she does chase away the Turtle Doves..I think this is because she is bottom of the pecking order and enjoys having someone to pick on for a change

And, yes, of course, we do have our Head Bouncer, Dusty.

I do believe Mother Nature is in a ‘mood’.

She turned off the heater yesterday lunch time and turned on the mega sized, industrial fan .. where we used to have a gazebo we now have a flapping canvas on a gazebo frame. Today, apparently, she is turning on the sprinklers and I am thinking the gazebo is not going to be the best place to try and stay dry

I haven't been battling them, but they are there. My dog would bark and bark at them when they'd sit on the fence eyeing off something....There's lots of bits and pieces for them to have, they try to steal my dog bones if I give them nice meaty ones. They are ok, as long as they don't hurt anybody. (that's because there are only a couple who live near here, not a whole flock. ) Anybody who has seen "The Birds" can't help but be a bit creeped out when they sit on your fence looking at you.....

The rats are very cunning. They nest directly under the nest boxes here, but know not to surface until dark. That way the chooks can't run them down and eat them. We have an electronic zapper in the feed shed and almost every other day hubby throws a dead rat in with the girls and by the end of the day it has been completely consumed. :sick

I've looked at those on eBay for mice and wondered if they were worth the investment.

i got myself a Pekin Bantam Man

I call him Pek-I, but as he keeps breaking out he is currently in a cage in my room for the night till i can get into the pen tomorrow and find his little hole.
