Nice looking bantams devinandfeather, apologies that I am not able to help out with colours.

sjturner79 I love the colours on KC’s bubs .. adorable! We have had a couple of wind [or fart] eggs here in the past; they are cute. This is the smallest one we have ever had. That is a normal corn kernel and a regular bantam egg it is pictured with:

As no news is good news, I have good news, no news

Crystal’s toe still looks OK, no swelling, no redness, no heat, no signs of infection or pain. As it is nearly 5 days now, I can probably relax … poor little thing is nearly at the point that when she sees me coming she presents her toe for inspection

Hi everyone in OZ. Just thought I'd say G'day. I have just become the proud owner of 4, 5 month old Light Sussex hens and therefore am new to Backyard Chickens also I'm a first time chicken lady and am enjoying them immensely. As we are coming into Autumn I dont think they will lay anytime soon (if anyone has an opinion on this please let me know) but they are curious and getting more confident everyday.

I live in Wagga and have been really worried about them in this heat wave we have been having the last 2 weeks but the girls have hung in there really well. I give them frozen water bottles every day before I go to work and they seem as comfortable as they can be in 38 degree heat! But they are waiting at the run door to be let out when I arrive home

Anyway, hi again and I look forward to reading you posts

Chook Newby

A hearty
welcome-byc.gif
to you. You will enjoy every minute of your visits here ... heaps of help, lots of fun and laughter ( via the keyboard ).

Your new chickens are lovely. The idea of frozen water bottles is great ... keeps an area cool. And is that GRASS I can see in the foreground. ? I am wondering how long it will remain like that !!

..... I should enter our chook created 'moonscape' in some Nat. Geog. competition --- - it might win something !!

Coming into Autumn, ( if that is still a season in Australia !! ) .... chickens often moult - so your girls might have their first moult soon. Then again, maybe not. If they do moult, then you could expect eggs late winter, early spring ( on my calculations ) ..... my 3 girls are all in moult - so no eggs. Have to buy them

Cheers -

:welcome Your girls look very healthy . You should be getting eggs soon, have their faces started to redden ? The seasons are all a little topsy Turvey , my pear tree still has fruit on it and it has gone into blossom again. Sussex will generally go into lay at 4-6 months.

KC has stolen all the bubs diamond hatched now 2. Diamond is still sitting on her last egg.

Oh dear - I feel so sad for Diamond, having her babies stolen from her.
hit.gif

They are adorable chickies .... and I do hope Diamond is successful in bringing her one egg left, to good life.

Do you ( just askin' ) then remove the 5 bubs from KC - and give them back to Diamond some way ( once the final egg is hatched ) ? Not sure how that could be done.

Except there'd be 6 chicks, ..... 3 for KC and 3 for Diamond - would that work ?

Or - am I on the wrong tram again !!

Cheers ........

Actually once the final one is hatched their will be 9 chicks, because KC should have had 5 and diamond 4. There are actually 8 in the pic if you can find them all.
