Cheers ~~

Thanks Annie, I've read the reviews and know of several people that have had no success with snake repellents. We have 50 acres and a kilometre of water front so there will always be snakes.
The hen that I lost on Xmas day was penned and to be honest my biggest fear is losing a horse to snake bite. Hopefully after hubby has finished clearing the land at the bottom of the garden the snakes will have moved on. Otherwise I can picture myself on the verandah sitting in my rocking chair with shotgun leaning against the wall.

That is so true about the snakes. When you have acreage of any sort you'll have snakes. You have to learn to live with them. We have snake alarms here lately the magpies. They go off if there is a snake around, Hubby has relocated 4 coastal carpets in the last 2 weeks.

Welcome Lisa... I also am a new comer and have found this thread very helpful and informative; not to mention entertaining.
My girls did well yesterday with 38 degrees and today it's going to be 37! As recommended I gave them watermelon and hosed down the trees around the coop...Madge and Tilly don't mind the water however Molly, Milly and black Betty run a mile. However they are laying! They are also enjoying tuna morning tea snack. Enjoy!

We are due up over 40c again in the middle of the week. Third time since middle of December. think the girls are getting used to it again.

My only news to add is for those that have been here a while will remember me saving miss frizz from near drowning a while ago. We lost her yesterday just old age i think as she was just under 10. Not a bad innings i don't think.
