New coop up and running. I have been waging war against red mite for a week now.

I feel for you. That was me last year. I hope you get on top of it quickly. Little buggers are horrible.

I have literally waged war against the buggers. The only thing that alerted me to them was a little silkie that wouldn't go to bed at night. 10 mins after popping her back inthe coop I had crawlies on me. Once I sprayed the coop with Coopex they came out of the woodworks. After spraying the broody box they were all over the eggs.

I sprayed coopex and pyrethrum, took out the wooden nesting boxes. I finally got rid of them, though they are a lot easier than stick fast fleas. I'm still battling them. Good luck

For sure. I had stick fast fleas earlier this year and i found changing out the nest box material once a week and adding rosemary and lemongrass to the nest boxes has done the trick. I just cut bits off each plant and threw them in the box when i changed the material.

Loving this autumn weather. Meet Dash the ever inquisitive Araucana. She follows me all round the garden and jumps on my back when ever I am bending over. She also hides her eggs from me.

Oh how cute is she. My girls were following me around yesterday as I was trying to mow. Got 3/4 of it done and was hoping to finish it this morning but guess what it's raining again. Oh well best find something else to do.

Thanks Satay I will try the rosemary and lemongrass in my nesting boxes too. I hope you got your lawn mowed.
Fancy I love Dash she is gorgeous, I have an Araucana too, she is a funny little girl they seem to have heaps of personality. She's a great layer and hardly ever uses the nesting box either.
