Oh well, yours is nicer than mine, the garden might pass for a three star motel. :p Full of plant material, overgrown with weeds, very plain metal coop in one corner and fruit trees in the other. You get the idea.

Sweet. I suppose I would count as lucky. The chooks haven't decided to lay in some dank corner of the Jungle for over half a year now.

Guinea I saw the other photo, but these are real funny

Your photos are real good, you must have a good camera. These are like post card pictures. Well Done. I like the Chick on the flying carpet!!

Mommapilko I'm not quite sure what you mean by DLM. At the moment because I only have one chicken in the coop, I just take out the soiled part and put this on my plants. My dog Oli seems to like picking this out and I think he eats the pooh YUK

I will be using the sugar can mulch in my main coop when we get the other chickens which will be when my hubby hurries up and finishes fixing things so we can house them properly. I already know where I will buy these. I was going to mention before that there are some plants/bushes that you can plant around your coop specially to discourage mosquitoes and flies, it's part of companion planting that also helps your veggie garden for certain bugs. I can't remember the name at the moment - I'll have to look it up. I know that the one I had planted for mosquitoes near my back door did help - it didn't diminish them all together but it sure did improve our outdoor area. It might be something you may want to look into.

Thanks, Rare Breed! I'll def post some pics  - of chickens and coop... We haven't had any really big storm for a while, so I'll have to maybe just start and if it goes soggy and doesn't work..start again.

Aussie Lady, I'll be really interested to know how your mealworm farm works out! Sounds like our coop may be similar to your renovated aviary. Hmmm - hadn't considered sugar cane.... Are you doing the DLM, or just tossing it out every week or so?  We've got one pure australorp and 2 lorp layers, they're cuddly and super friendly!! When do you get yours?

Satay, how many chickens in your huge house?? Dirt floor might be easier, but we've had heaps of rain and we've plonked the coop right over all the overgrown grass! I think it'll take ages for the mush to dry out, it's pretty gross right now!!:tongue   How often do you need to clean your's out?

At the moment about 60 . Some are young ones and i have about 10 roosters. I clean it out once a week. We have ducks and turkeys too but the are seperate.
