I'm in love!!

She is simply beautiful. Can't wait to meet her! Is she fully grown yet? Is that colour Cinnamon or harlequin? Just beautiful. The boys will fall instantly in love I am sure!

This one isnt fully grown yet- she still has a few wisps of baby fluff. I have three girls from this youngest group I kept for you to look at as well as a few older ones. I just thought with transport- the lighter the better but you may like one younger and one older - whatever you choose. This little one is a Harlequin.

She is a lovely runner ducky but I have never seen one of yours that isn't. You sure have some great ducks. Well after having the trap set all week and not catching a thing. I was awoken by my turkeys going off early yesterday morning. Raced out at let Zeus out. Went down to the pens to find this time it got into my muscovey pen. Luckliy Zeus had scared whatever it was off and i had one injured girl but she seems to be doing ok. Trap was still set and nothing it in it. Spent yesterday digging corregated iron in around the outside of the pens hoping this would deter whatever was going to so much effort to get in, my muscovey pen is about 1/4 acre so it was a big job.. Checked this morning and all are ok.

I only have a cat problem here.  A lady 3 doors up has been intent on feeding every cat- stray or owned for years now.  I think its time to ring the council and get a cat cage again.  There are two black and white males spending a lot of time in my back yard.   One is very mangy looking- a stray- but the other look in good health but still has no collar.   They will stalk the pigeons.  I dont have my ducks out durring the day when I am not home at the moment- so I need to do something about this before I can start letting them roam all day again. 

Part of owning a pet is being responsible for it- why people get a dog and let it roam and kill i just cant understand.  Its hardly far to the animal - you cant blame it for what is instinct- but a responsible owner will ensure that they arent just allowed to wander all over the place. 

You are right their Ducky. I don't blame the dogs but the crappy neighbour. Lance had to rescue the darn 1 year old kid from near the dam again yesterday.

Any point reporting them to DHS ?? that is just negligent. Hope you catch something soon in the trap, to stop your worrying.

I was thinking about buying a trap on my way up to the block today- but being time poor today I didnt stop at the shop i know has them. Next weekend... I have two cats I need gone and waiting for a council cage can take months.

Is DHS like Doc's in qld. Department of childrens services? I have reported them a few times but nothing seems to ever be done about it. The older kids don't go to school either. Think the parents keep them home to mind the younger ones she keeps having. (they are not home schooled either). Forgot to add too the dam was on their property not ours but our house looks straight onto their dam . Their house is at the front of their property and the dam is about 3 acres back. Our house is in the middle of our six acres.
Finished putting the iron around all my pens now so hope that will stop the buggers now from getting in.

I have the same sorta prob. Dogs attacking dogs & killing them. Dogs attacking cats & killing them....
The neighbourhood is horrible...but I just keep to myself, my kids & my lovely chooks

Thanks for the phone number Ducky, I was thinking about Kyneton but I assumed the pens would be full this close to the auction. Unfortunately most of my birds have gone into early moult from the stress I assume so are not looking their best now.

I'm sorry to read about problems with predators, we had a fox come down the driveway in broad daylight a few days back. The dog chased it back out and we haven't seen it since but extra cautious now.

Hi all. Hope your problems settle down soon,Satay,and yes DHS is what you say,but I will let Ducky confirm that. Foxes-Yeuk-they say they are in Tassie(!!)but I'm pretty sure that someone would have lost chickens by now if they were! Next doors hunting dog got into our paddock today,but our dogs saw it off pretty quick smart. Hubby fixed the gap it had got through,so we shouldn't have any more [rpblems. They are nice people(neighbours)and in this case I know that it was an accident,it's when people so obviously couldn't care less that I get really angry.
My Malays left home!

5 of them gone in one hit,the pens seem empty now. Lovely couple bought them,she was going to sit with them all their first night so they wouldn't feel strange!!! And I am a few dollards richer,the pens will soon get filled again I have no doubt!
