Every mini aussie I've met is psychotic. Lunging, barking, nipping at everything.
Over the summer at 4h there was mini and after the first 2 classes she dropped it because her dog was crazy and she couldnt handle her.
Our backdoor neighbor has a mini aussie crazy to.

Every aussie ive met has been gentle and nice. Maybe a bit crazy but not like minis😅
Australian shepherds don't come in sizes in the AKC standard. The ASDR allows both mini and toy to be registered. Both tend to be mixed, or bred from aussies not to standard. They tend to be more hyper and reactive. A well bred AKC Aussie is calm, and goofy. Just my experiences and knowledge of the breed which I love.

This was the champion sire of my last Aussie. He was a good looking dog.

I wouldnt ever get a mini aussie. But i would get a pure well bred aussie. Ive met a few and they are all gorgeous and have wonderful personalities.

I dont know if i could do another reactive dog. But if i ended up with one i know how to handle one.

If I got another I'd get another from show lines. Pepper is from ASDR lines and can be reactive. Thankfully she listens quickly to recall. My last Aussie was a wonderful fun dog. She understood full sentences, and I would have long conversations with her. They also have a goofy sense of humor. I've owned 2 show quality, and 2 that were not. I enjoy them both, but prefer the show quality.

It's the same with Golden retrievers. I got to know some show quality ones decades ago and I almost bought one because of how calm and intelligent the dog was.

Sameeeeee. I love well bred Aussies. BYB Aussies and Minis are a nightmare LOL I MIGHT consider a well bred Mini American at some point. But probably not. I need a bigger dog to be able to deal with Brew’s roughhousing and not be too delicate LOL although even the minis are still decent sized and decent bone thickness. But still. I would never consider a toy LOL also I am not really considering an Aussie anymore anyways because of the thick, fluffy coat LOL I need a wash and wear coat. I’ve been spoiled after having Brewster. :lau Even a Lab coat might be too thick. I’m not sure yet. Haven’t decided LOL leaning more towards another Pit/Lab mix or a Boxer or something like that.
