Dogs love limits and structure. Sadly, too many ppl struggle applying both of these. We've entered a time of giving way too much freedom to the pup, which ultimately disrespects them as a species and, in many cases, only increases their anxiety as they mature. I see too many dogs acting like hooked swordfish at the end of a line .. and I'm pretty sure that's not what the owner had in mind when they got a dog.I see a lot of people have troubles with aussies. They are bred to think for themselves, and to push cattle, so they can be boisterous, and forward. If you give them an inch, they will take a mile.
The good thing is they also are sensitive, and are easy to train on praise alone. People get them and expect to have a dog to cuddle. They can be that dog, but first need structure, and limits. They will go to the end of the earth for their humans. They aren't for everyone, but for someone who understands them, they are everything.

Both so trueSounds like what happened with raising kids.
That makes sense!So... my aussie is absolutely the best. He's athletic, cuddly, funny. He's also extremely clingy and is very much a 1 person dog. Once they pick their person, that's it! Now my dog is a good boy but to be honest I wouldn't trust him around kids because he has very strong herding instincts. He runs NON stop and loves hikes.
My mom got his brother (litter mate). A Blue Merle. He was a different story..they didn't exercise him as much as I did his brother. My mom's dog was aggressive with strangers and was known to bite. He had crazy eyes.
It's all in how you raise them!
