They are Miniature American Shepherds. I still call them mini aussies its my bad
There technically is miniature aussies registered under the ASDR. They are not AKC recognized. The term has been around a long time. Personally I think some mini aussies are mixed to obtain the smaller size, and other just bred down in size which limits what qualities you can pick in the parents because they are picking for size first. To me there is only Australian shepherds. They don't have a size and weight requirement, just a suggestion, so you will see different sizes within the breed. Miniature became a marketing term for BYB, and that is why the Miniature American Shepherd was eventually created. They wanted it to be a distinct breed.

All my own opinion. I love Australian shepherds. I am bothered by all the attempts to change what the breed is. Thank goodness they already come in merle.

I am bothered by the changing of breeds to. Nothing wrojg with mixed breeds but purposely breeding Some together like doodles makes me mad. Some are purposely bred like for service work.

Mini aussies were probably crossed with another breed to create a "mini"
A prefer standards in every breed.
Just was saying there is a registered term for them.

It wasn't directed at you at all, so no worries. It really wasn't directed at anyone, and I was just going on about my pet peeve in the breed, and in breeds in general. The last few years has been crazy with what is being bred and how much is being charged for them. I don't understand the doodle stuff.

Poodles are a wonderful breed, why keep creating breeds that aren't necessarily compatible. I don't understand breeding for color, especially merle, nor eye color, nor adding new traits and claiming they are all recessive genes that suddenly showed up.

I love all dogs, both mutts and purebred. I don't like mutts being labeled as purebred, and DNA tests showing they are because those only go back a few generations apparently, and don't show the mixing.

I best get off my soapbox before I get in trouble.

Yeah I hate how it shows as purebred when they’re not

I know it wasnt directed at me just stating a point. I for sure i agree.
Poodles are wonderful dogs my grandmother grew up with them and i remember the poodles they had. Especially Midnight who was a grey colored poodle she was the best.
my dad had poodles growing up to. A special breed for sure. But they are being used for the wrong.

I do wish some DNA tests wouldnt do that. I know embark has a family tree thing but dont know how accurate it is.
