Australorps breed Thread

19 weeks is pretty early. Maybe she decided she wasn't quite ready ;)   My first hen to lay started at about 22 weeks, laid 3 really small eggs between 11/3/2012 and 11/12/2012 then didn't lay again until 12/3.

Size will increase with age. For instance Eos (EE, hatched early June 2015) started at 38g in mid November at 23 weeks and worked up into the 50's in a couple of weeks. Took until March to fairly consistently hit 60g or more.

Thanks! They are slowly increasing, yesterday was 42. Still not my most consistent, but that's ok. She's a lovely bird with a nice temperament

I thought I would post some pics of my RSR line (RattleSnakeRidge) Cockerels that I purchased from Kurt in West Virginia. This is the first time I have posted pics on here but I felt everyone needed to see the Quality of birds that you can get from Kurt. I could not be happier.

These birds are all 6 1/2 months old

Yes, the ones that come from Kurt are beautiful! I currently have three here that I hatched out from him (1 splash male, and a splash female and blue female). Mine will be 6 months old on the 21st of this month. I want some more of them, but I need some black females and a blue rooster to set up a 2nd pen with.

Big Ron and BlueBaby,
Thank you for the kind words on my line. You both have to give yourself credit for raising and proper care or they would have never got that nice.
I have the BBS twins to Big Rons cockerels that I saved for myself. Do I hear road trip, anyone?
Kurt

Well Kurt, you know there is a pretty nasty hurricane headed in your general direction. If you'ld like to see Vermont in the fall, and bring a couple of pullets with you, I can make sure there is a bed available. And food, just don't be too picky, I'm not the world's best "chef".

I really like your Aussies Kurt. My blue cockerel has started getting some brown feathering on its saddle feathers. Will these turn black after most or should i look for a new rooster?

Thanks
