Australorps breed Thread

I didn't really think mine have been that bad, but then I learned a long time ago to put feeders and waterers on top of things, like upside down bowls or peices of 2x4, so they can't scratch or step around in their food and kick stuff into their water. Some BA's have a very strong need to scratch. Coturnix quail are bad too. I have video of one of my current BA's scratching at a metal panel on the side of the grow out pen as if he thought he was going to get food out of it. .. hold on I'll see if I can find it....

Here we go... watch for the little dork at 15 seconds in:
I'm glad you posted that video so now I know my chickens aren't the only hyper and crazy ones

I plan on having PVC feeders and water dispenser I'm thinking they should be less messy than regular feeders

Outdoor, just because it's been fertilized, does not mean there is a chick inside. While many websites will say there is no difference in cholesterol levels between fertilized, and unfertilized eggs, including our own govt. websites, yet the numbers they do post tell a different tale. They taste exactly the same, but the fertile eggs are actually somewhat better for you.
I know, I know ....but still ewww

These 2 are 4 weeks and look very similar, one is slightly smaller. The larger has a slight pink hue to it's comb while the smaller one's is yellowish. Both have feathered wing bows and tail feathers are about the same length but the larger ones tail feathers seem fuller and have a definded pyramid shape from behind. I know it's a little early to tell gender but wondering if your experienced eyes can distinguish traits already.

I better leave the answer to someone else, cause mine is 6 weeks and I still can't tell!

I can't tell either, I keep staring at my three's combs, thinking 'is that pink?? please tell me it isn't pink?? they said 90% hens, 90%, 90%!' lol!!

At this point I've decided to stop obsessing and wait until they crow or lay!

These 2 are so people friendly that I would consider keeping a roo. They jump up to the edge of the brooder to see me when I open it and climb up in my lap when I take them out to their pen to explore when it's warm out. My neighbors would likely hate me though, so hoping hens.
