Australorps breed Thread

Fantastic bird Aveca. I'd love chicks from a bird like that. Great breast and overall weight, that is not too orp like(a little fluffy in the thigh for me). Good legs under him, nice back and good tail. I'd like to see the tail from the side. One thing Bruce Sherman said he wanted to breed for on his birds is, more, fuller lesser sickles. He doesn't like the two really long curving main sickles with few thin lessers. Whose birds did you start with originally and how many generations out are you, if you mind me asking?

Would LOVE to send you some eggs..Unfortunatly I dont have really decent hens right now..they are OK..but not up to my liking...Like I said above..hes real workable. has produced some stunning pullets and cockerals impressive but those hens are gone now....Bob had a real bad year like that a couple years ago..racoons got in through crack in barn door they have hands , opened the childproof latches and killed off lot of birds..he had to rebuild them borrowed back birds from people like me ..its all better for him now...I would like this bird to be used by somone with better hens..for the whopping price of a dozen eggs when they are producing..this strain is robust healthy , little bigger than average..He does look a little orpish..they told me that back in the 50s maybe 40s somone added a little orp but thats all I know about that..plus hes fat..there is a lot of meat on that bird..he doesnt bother anyone when out woith the girls, but can get testy when picked up..between the goat wormer and good feed mill mix and salmon , some alfalfa , and scrambled eggs..they get pretty plump..

I highly recomend bob whitney , cant say enough good about him and his birds..they have quite the impressive trophy room ..lot of APA LF awards, east coast champions..sells chicks not eggs .. If your interested in going that way , PM me and I will give you his info..woth every penny I think.

here is a line of his birds at show east NY.

Bobs pullet and hen on champion row ch english and res... that is bobs langshan asiatic champion..

He ought to be on a calendar if you ask me.
thats very sweet, thank you deeshens...

What sort of fence is it? I am not familiar with the term stomp fence.
They sell these plastic covered fence posts with long metal spike with a foot pad so you can push them into the ground with your foot..I stagger the fence, one on outside of fence one on inside...gives it strength..the only thing I didnt like is I dont attach the little thinks on the post because they are SO hard to get back off..these fences are temporary can be moved around..saved birds from any attack but need to be checked often because racoons can play with them and make holes underneath at night..racoons are very strong..otherwise a great product..I dont want my lawn permanently fenced and I can move this fence anywhere I need it including separating pens..you can see bottom pic, some of the posts are 99 cents apeice, the white ones are 3.00 apeice..i buy a few at a time..next thing you know..several large fences..chicken wire sold seperate

here is a pic of it..while we were installing permanent property line fence 6 ft..I use this..

orpington temp pen..i can roll up that fence...move it anywhere..

that's what I thought it was, but hadn't heard it called stomp fence but that certainly is an appropriate name for it.

I live on hill top..solid rock in places..But Im a determined one..Its even worse planting post for the permanent fence..some of the shale rocks are so big, had to use the backhoe..

In the big pasture. I can seperate it into big grazing areas..then move it weed eat and move stuff they dont eat ...we have some real weedy underbrush..If I dont mow that once in a while..it takes over everything..
