Australorps breed Thread

The Hupp 5 are officially showing their sex. Pics will follow when I get a chance, big sale today and I am trying to recover. I have 1-splash cockerel, 1- splash pullet, 2- blue cockerels, and 1- blue pullet. That's 3- cockerels and 2-pullets! For what I plan to do it is perfect.Next year should be some interesting breedinng of Black, Blue, and Splash Australorps.

Looking forward to your pics.Glad to know things are working out for your breeding program. I must say that I'm thinking twice now Stan has called out the sexes of your chicks with uncanny precision. Have you noticed that too? ~Dee~

Ok! Here is the pics of the 2 week old Gilbert #4 pen. I can't believe how fast time is flying by!

Stan? Anyone? Too young for guesses?

I see 3 roosters right in front. I hope there are 3 nice pullets out of the #4 pen. I will also have the #2 pen to choose from. I am currently hatching eggs from the Hipps BA's & the original Tigercreek BA's. Will be getting eggs from Hupp later this year. I am excited about the prospects!

Hi everyone, I have been waiting for my BA's to get old enough to try to see if you all would help me figure out which of my BA's are roosters and which are hens? I have no idea. I have 12 and 6 have the large comb and wattles and 6 have a small comb and wattles. Here are some pic's of I could please get some help....
I know this one went a little blurry, but the bird in the front with the large comb and wattles, is this a hen or a rooster?

Then in the pic below are two in front that have smaller combs and wattles

And if by chance anyone can tell me if the BL are hens or roos would be a blessing!

I'm a leg man as far as guessing chick sex. Hard to see them from the angle of your pics, but I see pretty thick legs on 3, maybe 4 in the top pic......stan
Me too Stan! and from watching them, body language, posture, etc I'd say I easily have 4 or 5 Roos out of those 10, but a few weeks id should become more obvious,

Dan
