Australorps breed Thread

I have three April 8 hatch buckeye pullets that have laid two dozen eggs, one was double yoke. Same hatch date for BA and Wyandotte, the pullets still are waiting for first egg
Talk to Bob and he said his line of BA's normally start laying around 21 weeks & lay an Extra Large egg, and many of the first ones are double yolkers.

my BAs are 23 weeks and the combs are just beginning to turn red. I have set up the nest boxes in hopes the nest egg will encourage the hormones.

Not sure why I built nest boxes and put fake eggs in them. All the eggs I have found so far have been in one corner of the coop or another. HaHa!!

Mine hatched the last week of March. I have been getting eggs for 2 weeks. I have gotten several Jumbo eggs. I got one that weighed 84 grams. Jumbo starts at 7.8 grams. The Australorp was the last to lay. The white Leghorn waws the first to start laying followed by the Red Stars and the Australorp. We have had one double yolk egg so far.
