The egg is a tad over 1.5" wide, the tape is 1 1/4" wide. Question for everyone? Is it unusual to get an egg that big from a pullet her first week or is that normal?Congratulations! It just needs to get wider now LOL![]()
That is the first thing I was wondering.let us know if it has two yolks
No, it is not odd because they are older than other breeds when they start laying. There is a big difference between a 16 week old pullet egg and a 25 week old pullet egg.The egg is a tad over 1.5" wide, the tape is 1 1/4" wide. Question for everyone? Mine are 21 weeks old. Are there some breeds that lay at 16 weeks? No, it is not odd because they are older than other breeds when they start laying. There is a big difference between a 16 week old pullet egg and a 25 week old pullet egg.
Leghorns and Golden Comets. Also Penedesnencas and a couple of others can start that early. They are very little eggs but get large quickly.Mine are 21 weeks old. Are there some breeds that lay at 16 weeks?

She should lay one soon!Kewl! I hatched a leghorn pullet out. She is 17 weeks old but hasn't laid an egg yet, unless it is brown! LOL!!
I will be looking for that 1st white egg soon then.
I weighed the egg today on a postage scale and it weighed 2.4 oz. That converts to just a hair over 68 grams. That would put it at the top of an Extra Large, just a little shy of Jumbo, still quite the pullet egg. Maybe it is the Big Ol' Bird they get. LOL!!
