Australorps breed Thread

As far as I know a Jumbo egg is supposed to be about 72 grams. So what is a 148 gram other than the (The Halloween Monster).
I know the quarter looks like a dime but trust me it is not. Click on the pics to enlarge. The above pics show 5.25 oz so check the math. I pray this does not continue for her sake!!!

Hey y'all. I knew Halloween is supposed to be spooky, but look what I got out of one of my Tigercreek 11 month old Australorp PULLETS! There are no geese on my property and this is not an April fools joke. The pictures are the proof. Never have I seen an Australorp egg of this size. That is a US quarter, not a dime. The weights on the scale was checked several times.

Ive heard the longer they wait to lay the bigger they are ! Proves the theory. So Aussies lay white eggs ?
Love this picture ! the egg looks like it is Glowing

Is that a white egg? Or just the picture?

Ouch!!! Poor little girl, I hope this doesn't mean she has a plumbing problem. Had a young pullet this year lay a whopper, then a normal, then a whopper, then a couple really messed up, etc. Anyway, this went on for a couple weeks, one more whopper, then a huge tissue shed and she hasn't laid since.

The "HME" is over 3 1/2 inches long and is next to a 72 g BA egg from her sister in the same pen. It is just the flash from the camera, check the last pic.

Did you say 11 months?? That's a long wait, I guess she is trying to make up for the wait!....I have had them do that and then get more normal after a bit......How are they looking???...stan

Stan,
It did not take her 11 months to lay. She has been laying since she was 22 weeks old. My guess is that it is an egg within an egg and she just had a screw up. I was just amazed how big the egg was and wanted to share. I guess I was the only one impressed.
