Thank you so much Dee. Yep I like her shape to. They're not heritage but that's ok to me for now. I do plan on getting me some heritage and have located someone that lives fairly close to me. Had planned on getting some by the first of Nov. but his hens stopped laying. I am thinking about trying to keep these just for egg laying but don't know if I will do that or not because it might be too much trouble trying to keep them separate. We'll see.Enjoyed your pics RoseMarie1. I think the girl "eyeing" you has a pretty descent shape overall. I mean I think her lines look pretty good in the pics you shared. I like her! Your birds look super healthy. You are doing an excellent job. I love when their combs and wattles turn bright red. Such a pretty contrast with their feather coloring. ~Dee~
Cool, there is also a guy that lives in Mize,Ms. that has the heritage ones and I plan on getting some from him to get started with the heritage ones. I figure it takes just as much to feed them as does the not heritage ones so why not. I was partially raised in Agricola by my grandpa, close to Lucedale.Rosemarie,
Those are some beautiful chickens. I have a friend in Lucedale one of these days I will be down that way.
Check on the Nevada thread:I am looking for 2 more pullets. I live in Vegas. For a "common" breed, I am having a hard time finding them. I was offered eggs to buy and ship but I would really like them laying coming spring.
Is there anyone good near me that has young pullets for sale?
Barb
They have a procedure they do on RoosThanks Ill check that out. Not right now. Where I live I cannot have a rooster so the hens would only be egg layers. I sure wish they bred a no crowing roo.

Sounds like a good solution, BUT, don't know too many folks that would pay $200 to fix a $5 roo. I would think he would have to be a high quality breeder or someone's beloved pet they just can't part with. Second problem. How many people live anywhere near a vet that will treat poultry???
