Isn't it funny how their antics just keep us so occupied?? Today when I went out to the coop to give my 4 BA's their mid-day treat, which is mealworms (that they go beserk over!), I instead brought them the bottom half of a head of lettuce...a real special treat...or so I thought. I dropped it on the ground and all four of them looked up at me as if to say "What is...THIS??...where's the mealworms!" . They are just too funny!!!My black Australorp hens are so funny. They pick on my olive Egger hen because she is younger. They are one and she is a couple months younger. We moved a nine week old roo in the coop with them. As soon as we did they just backed away and he chases them around and they are three times his size! I expected them to start attacking him. It was so weird.
Quote: Was it the 1st time for lettuce ? put the meal worms in the lettuce ...
mine did the same behavior yesterday when i gave them the entire inside part of a bunch of celeryLOL!! Oh, they gobbled up the lettuce once they realized mealworms were not on the treat-menu for the day!!![]()
It IS exciting when they do that, for sure! And when you pet them, these BA's are soooo soft! It's like brushing your hand against silk!My 6 week olds actually came up to my hand(s) today, and without picking them up, I was able to pet, and hold them. They didn't run away. They seemed to enjoy it. I'm soooooooo pleased!
