Australorps breed Thread

y ou kunt me mailen terug met mogelijkheden?

Groeten Gerrie Schut

I TRANSLATED THIS INTO ENGLISH FOR HER:

Hi, I'm Gerrie Schut Australorp chickens and breeding in the Netherlands.
I think you're cute short tail Australorp chickens compared with the Australorp chickens in the Netherlands.
Is it possible that you send me two dozen Australorp chicken eggs from show quality to the Netherlands?

If this is not possible you have someone who can know?

y ou can email me back with options?
Greetings Gerrie Schut

Eggs are easier to import or export than birds, but still requires Government forms and Vet inspections.

What are the requirements for importing into the netherlands?

Don't worry about it now. You will know with time, They will be crowing or laying eggs by week 25 usually.

Usually you will know for sure by 10 weeks and have a good idea at 6 weeks.

You will have time to re home a cockerel if one was vent sexed incorrectly at the hatchery. They do not crow very will for the first several weeks. It is kind of cute to hear actually.
I bought from a farm last weekend. They had 4, two that were obviously cockerals and 2 that appeared to be pullets, then 8 weeks old. I brought the girls home. Since then one of their combs has gotten pretty red and the other one very small and pale in comparison. It still was not as obvious as the other two and I'm noticing that BA hens do have nice red and sometimes prominent combs. Do they mature at different rates, or might I have another cockeral? I'm going to try really hard to get good pictures tomorrow. I'll point out also that this bird is the top of the pecking order in a group of 6. She?is quite obnoxious, always standing in the middle of dinner. Lol
Thanks :)
I do have this picture. The BAs are on either side, with the one I'm curious about on the right. I've never raised chickens before but I don't see any male looking feathers on this one. Just worried about that comb.

Well, from the overwhelming response I didn't get, I may be the only one using Manna Pro products. Manna Pro Chick Starter is 18% protein. Their Gamebird/Showbird feed is 24% protein. My oldest chicks are 6+ weeks now. While I understand that Chick Starter is more balanced to meet their dietary needs as chicks, at what age should I mix in, or switch them to the higher protein?

Move to the show bird fee at 16 weeks, if the starter is medicated. If not, as soon as they can eat the bigger sized feed.

I grind up flock raiser in a mortar and pestle for the little ones. The do very well with it.

Hi, If your chicks are doing fine on the 18% I would keep them on it until they start laying.. I'm feeding mine a 23% chick starter but mine are 12-10 weeks and a couple need to add some weight.....

I was just told to watch their weight on the 23% starter,... I will switch to layer in about 8 weeks I hope...

Hey Ron, The starter is not medicated. Just wasn't sure about adding a bit of the showbird crumbles to boost protein content a little, without overtaxing developing internal organs. Some of the starter feeds are higher in protein than the Manna Pro, which is what led to my questioning about it. Thank you and birdlady for your answers!

What is the game bird protein level?

I would go for 18 to 20% protein. You can guestimate by combining the starter with the Game feed.
