I totally agree Ali Gator! The one major thing I've noticed about my lovelies is that they are indeed so soft and silky! My smallest young lady of the four will come up and rub against my leg...I slowly put my hand down and she lets me pet her and she makes the softest chuckling sound....I'm just a chicken mama in love I guess!!

I think they inherit this trait from their Orpington ancestry. My Buff Orps are also extremely soft most of them. Very fluffy birds as well as my BA's.

australorps actually have more feathers so are softer than other chickens.

that is the thing I miss most about my rehomed roo, Max. I miss scooping him up (which he wasn't always so thrilled about) and carying him around. He was like grabbing onto a big feather pillow. Your hands just sort of sank down to where the body was!!!
Can't wait for my little girls to grow up and get poofy

My Australorp is going to be 3 weeks old tomorrow!
Here's the last pic I took of her. I'll update soon.

Her tail is a lot pointier and she has a few more feathers now. I took this pic like 4 days ago! She's grown a lot!
