Australorps breed Thread

Hello,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I've made it back for the obligatory pictures. Was super busy yesterday as we got unplanned irrigation water. Anyway, let me know what you think. Here they are at about 6 weeks, first time they had ever had grass under their feet:

And this is a few days ago, they are now just over 11 weeks old:

This is Dugan. This is the only bird we've named so far. My daughter picked the name, so roo or pullet, it's a keeper.

Of course, I have to include my daughter, with her birds:

And just a few more from the run this morning to see what people think.

The last string of pictures, show all 6 of my birds, though one or two of them are overlapped and shown twice. Tough to get good shots of them, as you all know.

Regards,

Matt

Thank you. I love my animals. I've got an Aussie/Collie mix who spent a week in a coma last year. Cost me a Honda Civic to save her, but she's my baby. 3 cats in the house. I've had cockatiels and lovebirds in the past.

This is new territory. I'm ready to cull when the time comes, but it's going to be something new for me. I appreciate where my food comes from, but now it's time to step up and really respect what that means.

Thanks for sharing your flock pics with us...I especially loved your little girl in this shot!!!

You can tell she's going to be in love with them all!!

Mmonson,
If Dugan is 11 weeks old Dugan is for sure a pullet not a cockerel.

Good to hear. That was my gutt but don't know enough to make the call.
Really glad to see you still posting and contributing. I know it's been a while but I was saddened when you lost your boy. Your posts and contributions to.this thread are a big part of what sucked me in to looking at BAs as something more than just another bird.

I've got better pictures of Dugan. I'll post them for more feedback. Like I said, I don't know much but she's got a clean face, nice comb, and good looking feathers. If "she" lays well I'll breed her.

Long term I want to breed both the Lorps and back breed them into the BOs. I intend to ask for feedback on which roo to keep to try to produce the best BAs while still making good utility BO crosses.
