Thank you all for the suggestion! I really appreciate them and actually the shoe thing has me wondering because with all the rain we have been getting I have been wearing different shoes. I will arm my daughter for now with a spray bottle, which at her age and temperament she may enjoy too much. I just wonder if she can get him in the face and not just make him madder, she is not big enough to hold him down or even hold him at all though. We will just have to see but I do thank you all for your suggestion--I do have those young cockerels I hatched out the beginning of December waiting in line....

I would think just being with an adult, having her hand on him at the same time would be the thing. And if she just sprays him somewhere around his head and face it will help. Try a child size rake or broom maybe. Just to show him who's boss. Again, good luck.

With Chickie, my pet roo, I would just talk to him and try and get his attention away from my shoes. That really helped until I got the shoes off. Of course, once I realized the problem I just didnt wear those shoes any time I was around him. I also make sure to purchase very neutral colored shoes for wearing in the yard with the chickens. No other roo has given me any problems.

Love the first cockeral.. nice birds!! It's always a work in progress but I think you will get some really nice things out of these..

Long time ago I had one like him..he made some fantastic pullets with some outstanding tails..

Certain shoes I wore just upset him terribly. For instance, he hated some red slippers I had, some pink clogs and some green striped tennis shoes.

Can you BLAME him???? Pink clogs and green striped tennis shoes? I'd probably flog you too!

I have 2 roosters to choose from for breeding this year. I would also like your input on whether either of them are good enough to be shown. They are now 9 months old. I have problems with the comb on both of them. Please also let me know what I need to work on in the next generation. I think I would like a little longer back and legs.

Melbourne is my pick for his type, meaning head, body, tail and chest. The comb is questionable, but I look for type first. I would breed him with a hen to get a better shorter comb with 5 points, the blade in the back does not count. Also both birds combs are thin at the base because they appear in the picture to be laying over, and has a split point.
Outback's type is good and has a longer back than Melbourne which I do like. I am not into the tight and short U back like an Orp has. Outbacks comb corcerns me also. Take my opinions with a grain of salt because I am far from being an expert. I am just trying to tell you what I like, and how I interpret the APA SOP.
By the way, where did you get your eggs, chicks of birds from, what line are they?

I have to agree with you about the shoes too, I was thinking the same thing. Now back to my favorite BA's!!!

Like number one a little more, but both FANTASTIC! Number one could use, in my opinion, a little( very little) more mid/lower breast, yes a longer back, and a little less feathering on the thigh. You can obviously see the comb being a minor issue( type is worth WAY more).
Male two: little higher tail, less feathering on thigh, and a little longer legs. Comb looks a little too tall.
Both would be nice show birds, different judges would switch up the placing.
As for breeding both are ok breeders but off we saw the females it would be easier to pick one, if all you wanted to use is one...
Thought I'd mention also the first male seems to have a great tail and could possibly have some nice width, unlike the second male who clearly has a flat tail that has both sides near each other when veiwed from the rear.
