Australorps breed Thread

I just hatched out some BA's they are utility birds, but I have a few questions. They do not have all dark legs and their beaks are not all black.I am new so not sure about these things. Their eyes are all black but their parent have black with brown. I will get pics tomm after more hatch. I have one that has all dark legs and a black beak it just looks different, is this the things i look for to keep for my flock. I am going to improve my flock over time.

thank you very much for help
Richard

Yes, get a band on that one. If you have an APA book, work on figuring out type. Also remember that other than disqualifiers, do not cull until after the first year.

Beaks and legs will get dark as they get older. They change a lot so you do need to pay attention to them when they hatch.

Congratulations on the hatch!

Question, anyone here in Colorado who will be selling chicks soon? There's a lady I am buying some hatching eggs from who wants to add some Australorps to her flock. She found one seller who is semi local to her but overpriced for s/r :/

Hi Richard. Good to hear about your hatch. Congrats! I had been wondering about your project cause I had not seen you around here for awhile now. Looking forward to seeing your pics. Also how are your roo and hens filling out these days? We haven't seen them since they were quite young and still developing. ~Dee~
